Basic Boot Care

Soiled boots may be cleaned with a soft cloth and warm water, gently scrubbing at soiled areas. Following the washing procedure, rinse the footwear thoroughly. Avoid using any soap or detergents, as this will reduce the water resistance of the leather.

More persistent stains may be treated with a silicone liquid; however, be sure the leather is dry before applying this method. Follow any cleaning with a good rinse in clear water to remove any cleaning agents.

Boots should also have their moisture barrier integrity tested using the Boot Leakage Test.
